かっこよい、マンディブラリスをモデルに描きました。
フタマタクワガタ属最長。オスの大顎は長く、基部から下方へ向かう。中央部に1対の大型の突起（内歯）があり、基部から先端にかけても細かい鋸状の内歯がある。 体表は艶消しがあり、光沢は見られない。メスは、パリーフタマタやリノケロスに非常によく似ていて雑種も見つかる。
稀にパリーフタマタの雑種の個体(通称セアカマンディブ)が見つかることもある（2003年にキルヒナーフタマタクワガタとして記載されたものは通称セアカマンディブであるとの説もある）。
