マレーアンタエウスはオオクワガタの仲間で最も重厚な体型をしていて
大型であり体の横幅が広く、厚みがあります。
オスの大アゴは特に太く、強く湾曲し、エッジの角度(牙の先端）や内歯の
大きさがかっこよくとても魅力的です。
他のオオクワガタに見られるような大アゴのつけ根の近くの突起（眼上突起）は
目立たずメスの上翅には 縦のスジがないのが特徴です。
（大アゴのつけ根の裏側にはオレンジ色の毛束があります。）
地域によって変異があり、ヒマラヤの個体群、東インドから西ミャンマーの個体群
インドシナから中国の個体群、 マレー半島の個体群の4つに分けられています。
私はその中でも、マレーアンタエウスを専門に飼育しています。
